There were once two statues made of gold. One was an angel whose wings were great. One was a woman, the beauty of the two. They stood together for hundreds of years. Never were the two apart.
Yet one day the woman became bored, she spoke and said "I stand and I stand, yet my legs never ache. I have watched the sun set ever day. And the sun makes my skin become as bright as the stars. Every day it goes behind the hills, to those hills I must go. For that is where the sun is born."
The angel pleaded as she stepped from the pedestal. "Come with me Angel, for you sir are my only friend." but he could not. For his wings were too great for him to lift. So she turned and went with no thought of returning without the sun. She went as far as her golden eyes could see; the further she went the more years began to pass by. She became alone. She differed from the others for she was gold and they flesh. She walked despite her sadness. She had to find the sun.
She came upon a brass statue of a man, pointing to the sky with a book in hand: a noble man.
"Noble man, might I ask how far the sun is yet? For I have been walking and walking but have not yet reached it," she spoke.
The noble man began to laugh, "Dear golden woman, the sun can not be reached, for it is in the sky where not even man can touch it".
The golden woman became sad "Noble man, but what am I worth without the sun? When it shines my skin becomes as bright as the stars".
"You are worth a thousand stars to whoever loves you," the noble man said. But she was foolish and didn't realize the truth in his noble words. She turned to the moon. And to the moon she walked again, she walked till her feet were sore. She walked till years began to go by and her skin shone no longer. She walked even as she grew weak. She had to reach home to tell the angel of the noble man's words, to tell him to fly to the sky to get the sun.
And as she came between the two hills where the sun was born she ran to the angel to tell him. But when she got to the pedestal stood empty, for the angel had fallen. He had broken his wings to follow her but he had broken away his legs. And there he laid, his heart broken and gone. When she ran to him she saw the truth in the noble man's words, for the angel had loved her. She too had a broken heart. Though she lay beside him again and again they put her back on the pedestal. With a faded heart she stood finally...forever alone.
And on the last day as the sun was born she spoke and said "Sun... Take my color. For I no longer can bear to be golden" and he did. And with it he took her broken heart and took it to the sky where the angel's had flown when broken free of his golden statue body. And there their skin shone and became as bright as the stars....
A story of two golden statues. I wrote this yesterday night in about 15 minutes. I'm hoping to turn the story into a moving drawing music video (mouth full).
I hope you enjoy and thank you for reading!
